A Multi-Engine Rating is a rating that allows a pilot to fly aircraft to that has more than 1 engine.  The multi-engine rating can be earned with a Private Pilot License for flying multi-engine aircraft for personal use or a Commercial License to fly multi-engine aircraft for hire.  Usually, student pilots will earn the single engine version of the license first and then get a multi-engine add-on rating to the single engine certificate they already have.  Prices vary from flight to flight school and a student’s abilities, but typically a Multi Engine Add On will cost anywhere from $4,000-$6,000.
